Gardening (Fall 2025)

Gardening: The science behind it

Whether one gardens to feed oneself, to contemplate, to relax, or to be together, gestures and actions stem from observations and experiments, without necessarily knowing or understanding all the underlying processes and workings of living organisms. Behind the trial-and-error experiments and empirical knowledge of gardeners, what scientific insights are revealed in these practices?

The exhibition delves into the scientific knowledge that underlies gardening. Through interactive displays in each themed garden section, it explores different practices, their benefits and their scientific impact. Bridging practices, gardeners’ experiences and sciences, the exhibition aims to foster conversation between scientists and practitioners: amateurs and professionals, gardening visitors, and invited gardeners.

Borders (Spring 2026)

Borders: A word from geographers

Geography: another way of talking about people. Geography enables us to understand societies in their spatial dimension. In this exhibition, the public will discover the multiplicity of possibilities: open, closed or porous borders, borders that are places of opportunity or conflict, that separate, protect and sort. They are lines, but also thicknesses, points and even networks. Here, the exhibition looks at the subject of borders by choosing a dozen examples from around the world, some for their emblematic character, others for their singular, intriguing aspect, or for the light they shed on a major issue.

Unveil the science behind the MAGIC (Fall 2026)

Magic: Belief and Knowledge

A magic show is a form of entertainment, based on scientific and technical principles that magicians use and rely on. It is based on innovations, which allow creating magical effects, thanks to lesser-known scientific discoveries. The magicians today call into questions our perception of reality, our belief, and our relationship with technology, more than ever before. Science plays a role in tricking, entertaining and instructing during the magic show. The magicians have questioned the process of making the illusions, alongside innovations in different fields: optics, acoustics, and more recently computer and digital sciences.

By tracing the history of magic filled with great discoveries and anecdotes, this exhibition plunges visitors into a captivating world, mixing science and magic. The visitors can play with interactive installations, while exploring the brain system, either as magicians or as spectators.
